I looked up the W32Bagel that I found as a suggestion on this site, but as system date is obv after then it would seem to not apply.Īm currently scanning my system with TREND MICRO housecall 6.5 online scanner as I type, hoping in the vain hope that it might come up with the goods.įollow the steps below with the System started and restarted in Safe Mode with Networking. Hope someone out there has experienced this and can help? I’m debating a complete wipe of the system (advised by my brother), but would rather solve the problem, not start from scratch. I’ve tried uninstalling avg (and others) and reinstalling but no effect.Īt the moment I’m using firefox as it seems slightly more stable that IE, however it did go to a wrong hijacked link only ten minutes ago, so isn’t totally ‘right’. – my avg, counterspy, ad-aware, spybot s&d can’t seem to ‘see’ the net for updates even though I’ve got access. Have also deleted all cookies/temp folders/cache etc. Did find a browser hijacker a few days ago, but removed it then and the problem persists. Also tried CWShredder thing and nothing found. Ran a Hijackthis and got rid of some more mostly simple stuff (after analyzing the log) and one potentially bad threat. I’ve run all my spyware programmes in their out of date status and only really found simple tracking stuff. Sometimes it crashes completely when I first load the browser window, and other times my links are occasionally hijacked. – when I’ve fixed the net connection temporarily, the IE brower’s being buggy. I can’t even cntrl/alt/del and have to power down at the switch. – Also sometimes on startup it completely hangs at the stage of getting the net on, and avg running an update. – on startup my internet connect seems to have issues aquiring network key (?) and to get the internet to work I have to disable then enable it again. I’m running XP on a Dell dimension 5100, and using SKY broadband with router (not wireless). I’ll outline them and then list what i’ve done to try and solve the problem. So it appears BD is still in my system somewhere and it somehow interacted with my latest Spybot instillation (causing me a lot of work).Recently I’ve been having major issues with my pc. The funny thing is that I know I checked the Windows\TEMP folder and I am certain there wasn't any Bitdefender byproducts in there. I uninstalled BD with their uninstall tool and a manual search of the likely places to make sure it was all gone. I had Bitdefender some months ago but changed to Webroot and Armor. dmp file that was created today.Īnd here is the confusing bit. I looked in the Windows\TEMP folder and found a large Bitdefender. You are strongly encouraged to send the file to the developers of the application for further investigation of the error. A file containing error information has been created at C:\Windows\TEMP\BitDefender Threat Scanner.dmp. Then during the restart a very odd thing happened.ġ)Spybot only partially uninstalled leaving a huge number of files in the instillation folder, the Spybot banner was still in the task-bar and it was connected to enough of the program to be able to load a Spybot window (which couldn't do anything).Ģ)When I restarted the computer windows paused the shutdown process and displayed the following message Ī problem has occurred in BitDefender Threat Scanner. I installed Spybot free today and things immediately started to go wrong (very high cpu usage etc) so I uninstalled it.
